The Councilor of Territorial Policy, Environment and Historical Heritage of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Carlos Espino, visited this Tuesday together with the mayors of Tías, Tinajo and San Bartolomé and technicians from the Environment area of the aforementioned institutions, as well as the Yaiza City Council, the natural space of La Geria.

The objective of this tour, the second one carried out by the councilor, was none other than to agree on a shared position between the administrations regarding the Master Plan for Use and Management of La Geria, verifying firsthand the suitability or not of including the inhabited centers in said document.

In the words of the councilor himself, "it is essential that the plan includes the pre-existence of residences and economic activities, such as wineries or restaurants, in the area", who adds that "the instruments used by the master plan cannot ignore pre-existing realities, since they would immediately lose credibility and coherence."

"The rigor in the conservation and treatment of the space does not have to be at odds with the existence of homes and different economic activities, since these may even be fundamental for their own development," Espino points out.
