The Cabildo of Lanzarote will allocate 290,000 euros in aid to the agricultural and livestock sector, of which 220,000 will be used to subsidize expenses in livestock farms and cheese factories to minimize the losses caused by the health crisis derived from Covid-19.

The president of the Cabildo, Mª Dolores Corujo, points out about this initiative approved in the last urgent plenary session and published last Friday, October 16 in the BOP, that "for this government group the development and promotion of the island's primary sector is a fundamental issue, to which we are going to offer all our support to help it through this difficult time caused by the pandemic".

In this sense, the island councilor responsible for the areas related to the primary sector, Ángel Vázquez, stresses that "with these contributions the Cabildo of Lanzarote helps in this critical moment a strategic and fundamental sector for our economy, thanks to which the island has excellent agri-food products of great quality".

Among the beneficiaries of these aids are the health defense groups Ahof, Guanapay de Teguise and Tamia, as well as the Association of Artisan Cheese Factories of Lanzarote (AQUAL). The remaining 70,000 euros will be used to cover operating expenses, rents, projects, as well as training and promotion actions, among others, carried out by associations and other entities in the island's agricultural sector, including the aforementioned groups, the Regulatory Council D.O. Vinos de Lanzarote and the associations Aprolan, Aderlan, La Milana and SAT El Jable.
