The Environmental Assessment Body of the Cabildo of Lanzarote has given its approval to the start of the environmental assessment and the public consultation of the PIOLC to public administrations and interested parties
The Cabildo of Lanzarote continues with the processing of the Island Plan of Lanzarote and the Chinijo Archipelago (PIOLC), as established by Law 4/2017 on land and protected natural spaces of the Canary Islands and the planning regulations of the Canary Islands.
Thus, the Environmental Assessment Body of Lanzarote, in its last session held last Wednesday, has given its approval to the start of the environmental assessment of the Draft PIOLC and the Initial Strategic Document (DIE) and its public consultation to the public administrations that may be affected and to the interested parties.
"We continue to mark the steps so that this very important document, a fundamental and strategic tool for the planning of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, will soon be a reality," says the president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, who assures that "after more than thirty years, we will finally have an updated PIOLC, which will allow us to order and define the territorial, urban planning and the management of our natural resources."
For his part, the Councilor for Territorial Planning and Territorial Policy, Jesús Machín, emphasizes that "we have started a new cycle in island territorial planning, a very necessary new stage, with the aim of taking a qualitative leap and building, together, the future of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, consolidating a model of sustainable development and growth and that, of course, results in the improvement of the quality of life of all the people of Lanzarote and Graciosa."
Likewise, Betancort and Machín agree in highlighting that "the commitment of the Island Corporation is to have the participation of all the sectors involved, thus guaranteeing transparency and dialogue with local administrations to enrich this vital document for the island."
Both the Draft PIOLC and the Initial Strategic Document can be consulted through the website of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and interested parties may submit the appropriate allegations through the Electronic Headquarters https://cabildodelanzarote.sedelectronica
