The former mayor of Yaiza, José Francisco Reyes, would have retracted his statement made on October 4 before the magistrate of the Court of Instruction Number 2 of Arrecife, María Dolores García Benítez, according to one of the brothers of Ignacio Díaz de Aguilar, who was summoned to testify as an accused this Wednesday.
The summons of Díaz de Aguilar and five other businessmen occurred after Reyes' confession, in which he gave the names of several people who would have "helped" him financially and who benefited from licenses declared illegal by the Justice.
Now, the family environment of one of those accused assures that the former mayor of Yaiza and former vice president of the PNL would have retracted that statement before the judge, presenting a writing in the Court in which he would assure that he acted "under pressure".
In this regard, the one who has identified himself as Reyes' "provisional lawyer" in this case, and who also went to the Arrecife Courts on Wednesday morning, has stated that "right now", he cannot "confirm" whether it is true that his client has modified his statement.
"Aid" in cash
Regarding Ignacio Díaz de Aguilar, legal representative of Las Coloradas S.A., José Francisco Reyes had stated before the judge that "he helped him at the time", according to the statement in the summary of the case.
In addition, Reyes added that "the collaboration was not to grant him the license, but in a general way, since he was in charge of the entire partial plan of Las Coloradas, rather in the second stage, around 1998-2000", and that "the money was given to him in collaboration for the party issue or something like that", doing so "so that the procedures would be expedited and done faster, or something like that", as stated literally in the summary.
The former mayor even assured that Díaz de Aguilar "personally gave him cash", not "remembering the amount", but "possibly about seven or eight million pesetas".

Díaz de Aguilar, who has come with his lawyer and office partner, Miguel Losada Terrón, was summoned at 9:30 a.m. this Wednesday, although his statement has been delayed. In fact, shortly before 12 noon he left the Courts "to have a coffee", as he himself has indicated, waiting to appear before the judge.
For his part, the statement of the other person summoned for this Wednesday, José Francisco Riquelme, could have been postponed due to a health problem that the accused would have alleged. Riquelme is the representative of Papagayo Arena S.L. and Explotaciones Hoteleras Nueva Valencia.
According to the statement of José Francisco Reyes before the judge, he gave him "cash, although he does not know the amount or the date of delivery", to "expedite the procedures in what could be legal". In addition, he stated that he received the money after delivering the licenses, "not when they made the request", and that "they gave it to him in gratitude for the procedures that were carried out".
