The Arrecife City Council has completed in these weeks of April the installation of the new shower and accessible area on the beach next to the Castle of San Gabriel. According to the City Council, this small one lacked until now these services for bathers.

This action is part of the plan launched by the government group, led by Ástrid Pérez, to improve all services on the seven beaches of the municipality.

As detailed by the Councilor for Beaches, and also head of the Environment Area, Ángela Hernández, in addition to the shower, an accessible base has been placed on the beach of San Gabrie to allow users to easily reach this shower area, located near the promenade towards the old Commercial dock, and the esplanade that surrounds the fortress of the Castle of San Gabriel, the second oldest on the island of Lanzarote after the original Castle of Santa Bárbara and San Hermenegildo, on the Guanapay volcano. "We have many more improvements underway for all the beaches of Arrecife, some of them already visible such as the Arena beach (next to the Castle of San José), or on the Reducto beach, with a blue flag," he added.

Within the City Council's plan for its beaches, the City Council states that investments are being made to improve services and equipment works, which will "increase the levels of quality and functionality, strengthening accessibility in all of them." "Visitors choose a destination knowing the existence of beaches and services," said the Councilor for Beaches, also highlighting that the Arrecife seafront area has a hotel, one of the oldest and operating continuously, since its opening to the public in the 60s of the last century.

"We want the residents of Arrecife, and visitors, to be able to better enjoy the coastline and its coves, under equal conditions", Ángela Hernández remarked.

In this line, with the new investments, it is stated that the government team has ensured that these new services with showers are accessible and have "suitable bases that allow the drainage of water and are resistant to the erosion of the tides."
