The Arrecife City Council has published in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) the call for subsidies for groups, associations and NGOs that work with vulnerable people. The government group, led by the mayor Ástrid Pérez, allocates 508,750 euros for these social aids, "tripling" the amount compared to the year 2017, the last year in which Arrecife had current budgets, until the approval this summer of the new annual budgets for 2020.
The Department of Social Services of the City Council, under the direction of the councilor María Jesús Tovar, published the call last Friday, August 14. Associations, federations, foundations and non-governmental organizations, non-profit, whose purposes are in accordance with the municipal interest and that contemplate in their statutes the realization of activities aimed at achieving the objectives of helping vulnerable people or at risk of social exclusion and working in the municipality of Arrecife, may apply for this subsidy.
Those projects that, presented by the beneficiaries, mainly affect the population of the municipality may be included in this call, as reflected in the official announcement of the BOP. The procedure for granting these subsidies will be competitive concurrence. The regulatory bases of the call and its corresponding annexes are available to interested parties at the Electronic Headquarters of the Arrecife City Council.
Aids that "dismantle the false opinions of the opposition"
The Councilor for Social Services, María Jesús Tovar, recalls that the total amount of the subsidy to be granted will in no case exceed 35,000 euros per project. The maximum amount to be subsidized may reach up to 100% of the amount requested. Each association or group can aspire to the subsidy of several projects that are developed during this 2020 in Arrecife to help vulnerable people.
"This call published in the BOP dismantles the false opinions expressed by the representatives of the opposition in the process of approving the municipal budgets when they said, falsely, that we had eliminated subsidies to groups", highlights the mayor of Arrecife, Ástrid Pérez. "The reality is very different, and this government group continues to help groups by tripling aid in 2020 for social issues," she remarks.
In this regard, the Arrecife City Council highlights that after the approval of the budgets, it proceeded to publish in the BOP the subsidies for sports clubs and now those for NGOs and social associations.
