Teguise City Council has not been able to request the Local Police of La Graciosa to seal the house that the former mayor of Arrecife, María Isabel Déniz, is building in Caleta de Sebo until this Monday. This notification has not arrived before because these days "there was no police" on the eighth island, according to the Councilor for Urban Planning, Echedey Eugenio.
It should be remembered that the City Council decreed the stoppage and sealing of this house, owned by Isabel Déniz, on June 28, who had permission to restore the old house, but not to demolish it. However, more than a week later, the stoppage order had not been communicated to the agent of La Graciosa.
Moreover, a neighbor sent some photographs to La Voz in which workers are seen working in the house. According to this citizen of La Graciosa, the works continued to be carried out last week, despite the stoppage order by the City Council. In addition, the sealing has arrived a month after the police themselves drew up the report, on June 3.
However, the councilor Echedey Eugenio has assured that after this notification that the police of La Graciosa has already received, "there should not be a single movement there." This same Wednesday, personnel from the Technical Office of the Teguise City Council will move to Caleta de Sebo to inspect this property.
Without authorization
Thus, they will have to prepare a report in which they determine the alleged irregularities that could have been committed in the construction of this house. As published last week by the ACN Press agency, María Isabel Déniz requested authorization from both the Heritage Area of the Cabildo and the Ministry of the Environment of the Government of the Canary Islands for the restoration and improvement of a house and a warehouse, which are included within the catalog of protection of elements of heritage interest of the Rector Plan for Use and Management of the Chinijo Archipelago. Both Heritage and the Government gave the go-ahead.
However, to do the work, the old house has been demolished, without the demolition being authorized. In order to demolish a house affected by Heritage, this department must give its approval.
