The 11 new judicial units in the Canary Islands planned by the Ministry of Justice begin operating this Friday

The Ministry of Justice has promoted this year the constitution of these new bodies with the purpose that the judicial plant is the ideal one to attend the needs of the Administration of Justice and thus guarantee to the citizens the effectiveness of the judicial protection of their rights.

Likewise, the programming designed for 2007, approved throughout the year through 5 Royal Decrees, reflects the intention of the Ministry to give an adequate response to the social demand with a more agile and efficient Administration of Justice.

Another of the commitments has been to channel the response to the social demand of violence against women. With this objective, the Ministry of Justice has created 43 courts of Violence against Women, which are added to the 40 already existing. In the Canary Islands, 1 of these courts will be launched tomorrow.

The list of the new judicial units that are launched this Friday in the Canary Islands is the following: four magistrate positions in collegiate bodies; 2 magistrate positions for the Provincial Court of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (First and Second Sections); and 2 magistrate positions for the Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Second and Fifth Sections).

In addition to seven Courts: Court of First Instance number 15 of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Family); Court of First Instance number 6 of San Cristóbal de la Laguna; Court of Contentious-Administrative number 6 of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria; Social Court number 6 of Santa Cruz de Tenerife; Social Court number 3 of Arrecife; Criminal Court number 7 of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, by agreement CGPJ of April 28, 2007 its headquarters is established in Santa Cruz de la Palma and Court of Violence against Women number 2 of Santa Cruz de Tenerife
