Teguise Town Council has opened from this Monday and until March 4 the deadline for the submission of offers to cover the new needs in terms of home help in the municipality, which will involve the hiring of four new workers.
The evaluation of the proposals will be announced on Friday, March 5 at the Teguise Town Council's Procurement Board, an institution that has allocated a total of 345,000 euros for this new tender, with the aim of covering this service for a period of three years, extendable up to five.
In this regard, the Mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, congratulated the technical team of the Social Welfare area, "for the extra effort made in this time of pandemic to be able to assist the entire population of the municipality that has difficulties in carrying out the basic activities of daily living." "This new contract will provide them with care in their own homes, through specific interventions that favor their permanence in their usual environment and compensate for the reduction of their functional autonomy," said Betancort.
The City Council indicates that the municipality of Teguise has about 4,416 older people, according to data registered as of January 2020, and estimates that given the increase in life expectancy, this figure will continue to grow, so it foresees an increase in applications.
"This service will include support for travel that guarantees access to social services, in addition to home help, which involves personal and domestic care that may be preventive, assistance or rehabilitation, aimed at individuals, families or groups, to avoid or, where appropriate, delay admission to a center or to intervene in situations of psycho-family conflict," explained the head of the area, Isidro Alonso.
"A total of 58 people, mostly family units with scarce economic resources and little or no primary support network, would urgently need coverage of this service as of today, without taking into account new demands that may arise," said the councilman.
