The month of August ended in Teguise with the closing of the "Active Summer", an initiative promoted by the City Council to revitalize youth in the summer season, which had already been well received in previous editions and which this year has been reinvented, offering innovative and different leisure alternatives to young people.
Teguise thus continues to bet on quality youth revitalization with a program of activities that has toured different parts of the municipality such as Caleta de Caballo, Las Caletas, Los Cocoteros, Caleta de Famara and the Villa de Teguise, which have been the scene of various workshops, film screenings, multiple sports, the most popular being the fun bubble football, and also recovering and promoting the sporting essence of the Canary Islands or other disciplines such as archery.
In addition, coinciding with the course of the "Active Summer", the International Youth Day (August 12) took place, in which youth activities were developed in the urban centers of Las Caletas, Tahiche and La Graciosa. It should be noted that on the eighth island, in addition to sports practices, there was an urban art workshop, in which they decorated ashtrays with messages of respect for the environment. Although this was not the only environmental awareness activity, since the last day of the "Active Summer" was reserved for cleaning the coastline.
Also, in the last week of this program of recreational activities, the "Youth Day" was celebrated in the festivities of the Sacred Heart of Mary of Famara, an event where young people enjoyed bubble football, the battle of roosters, the realization of henna tattoos and virtual reality video games.
As the highest representative of the institution, Oswaldo Betancort wanted to thank all the young people of the municipality for their active participation, as well as congratulate the monitors "for their great work, always at the service of the youth of Teguise and committed to improving each year the offer of leisure and free time for a very demanding segment of the population," he said.
For her part, the head of the area, Sara Bermúdez, reiterated her gratitude to the youth facilitators, "who have made it possible for the summer season to be experienced in a special way in Teguise and that all young people have the same possibilities of access to leisure".
