The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, has assured that "during the weekend, and from the first hour of this Monday, the City Council has made all its machinery available to the residents of the areas most affected by the sandstorm, which has especially hit Caleta de Famara".

"We have proceeded to remove the sand accumulated in the streets after the strong winds, and we are also repairing the damage caused by the storm, both in the lighting and in the urban furniture", Betancort pointed out.

The mayor has thanked "the willingness of the municipal staff, as well as the work of the State Security Forces, Local Police, Security and Emergency Consortium, Emerlan and Civil Protection, whose members have been alert to any complication or incident caused by this unpleasant meteorological phenomenon", which is expected to "subside this afternoon so that everything can return to normal as soon as possible".

Regarding La Graciosa, the delegate councilor, Alicia Páez, has asked the residents for "patience", "since the strong gusts of wind will continue this Monday". In addition, she has assured that "as soon as possible, the necessary means will be put in place to restore normality on the eighth island as well".

In the event of any new incident, the Head of Security of the Teguise City Council, Eugenio Robayna, reminds that the Immediate Intervention team is available 24 hours a day on the telephone 689 64 75 69.
