The Teguise City Council has awarded José Carlos Castaño Varela the hammock and parasol service on three beaches in Costa Teguise. Following the authorization of Costas in favor of the Consistory, the service was put out to tender with a base budget of 310,000 euros, and has finally been awarded for 296,000 euros per year, until 2025.
The contract includes cleaning the beaches and is established by zones, limiting the spaces reserved for the placement of 580 hammocks and 290 on the beaches of Las Cucharas, Jablillo and Bastián, where certain conditions must be met, such as the regular distribution in rows separated from each other of these elements, in addition to the placement of waste bins (yellow, blue, green and black, of 90 liters each) at the entrances to the beaches; of beach ashtray dispensers; keep hammocks and parasols in perfect condition and remain so throughout the duration of the concession.
In addition, the new service will have two amphibious chairs for adults and two for children, as well as a set of crutches to facilitate bathing for people with reduced mobility. The signage on Las Cucharas beach will also be improved for greater safety for bathers.
“A new contract that is resolved by the Teguise City Council is a new service that improves municipal services, therefore, congratulations to the technical team, and to the Council coordinated by Antonio Callero, since with this award a demand from the tourism sector of Costa Teguise is answered, which brings so much benefit and employment to the whole of society”, said the mayor, Oswaldo Betancort.
For his part, the councilor recalls that the area “continues to work to maintain and improve the quality of the Costa Teguise coastline with the distinctions that certify the level of services offered on the beaches, such as the Blue Flag and the Tourism Quality System at Destination".
