The Teguise City Council Plenary has definitively approved the Strategic Subsidy Plan, which has an investment of two million euros for all cultural, sports, social entities and associations and for educational centers and students of the municipality.
“Once this plan is approved, we will proceed to activate the respective calls so that all the non-profit groups that operate in Teguise can develop their projects for the benefit of the citizens”, declared the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighting that “the greatest effort has been for social emergency issues, vital to respond to the demand generated by the current crisis”.
In this sense, in terms of Social Action, the City Council has established the following subsidy lines: social emergency aid, accommodation, housing rehabilitation and personal autonomy, projects for the Elderly; Equality subsidies, Social Projects subsidies and the Association of People with Intellectual Disabilities of Lanzarote (Adislan).
The subsidies in the field of Culture have been granted to the Federation of Folklore and Cultural Associations Virgen de las Nieves; to festivals and Carnival associations; to the Municipal Music Band of Teguise Teguiband; to the Municipal Polyphonic Choir of Teguise; to the Rancho de Pascuas de Teguise; to Los Diabletes de Teguise and the promotion of cultural activities.
In terms of Sports, aid to projects and sports clubs of municipal interest is included; and in terms of Education, aid to students of the municipality has been increased in the financing of the costs involved in the transfer to the different universities and educational centers; and also subsidies to educational centers and AMPAS, UNED and rural schools.
The plan also includes subsidies from the primary sector, specifically, to the Castillo de Teguise Federation of Agricultural and Fisheries Associations; to the different socio-cultural centers; environmental subsidies; aid to merchants; to the NGO Prensa Juvenil Canarias; and in terms of animal ownership, to the Sara Animal and Plant Protection Association and the Lanzanimal Animal Protection Association.
“The objective is that the amounts corresponding to each of the associations or entities reach the interested parties as soon as possible so that they can continue to carry out their work and maintain the social cohesion that characterizes the town of Teguise”, added the councilor responsible for the area, Javier Díaz.
