Somos Lanzarote, through its spokesperson in the San Bartolomé City Council, Paula Corujo, has announced that she will request, through a motion, that Aena be urged to apply a Noise Insulation Plan in the homes and public buildings around Guacimeta.
"The strategic noise map of the Guacimeta airport, recently prepared by Aena, reveals that in Lanzarote there are 8,500 residents who are exposed to noise levels above 55 decibels," says Corujo, who points out that "most are in Playa Honda", where "there are about 1,900 affected homes".
The study itself includes, according to Somos Lanzarote, "some noise reduction measures, including the verification of acoustic certification standards, the optimization of operating procedures to achieve the minimum acoustic impact on the environment, the reduction of noise from ground operations, measures to discourage noisy aircraft, as well as preventing new land planning instruments from approving modifications of land uses in the airport environment that allow the development of uses incompatible with airport activity".
"Control and monitoring mechanisms for acoustic quality, systems for registering and processing noise complaints and for informing and involving the public, as well as the creation of monitoring committees, are also included," they indicate from the formation.
Minimize the inconvenience
"We will demand that Aena be urged, on the one hand, to start applying the measures that are specified in the study and to carry out a Noise Insulation Plan (PAA), as is done in the environment of those airports in its network with the aim of minimizing the inconvenience caused in the environment of the airports by the noise produced by aircraft in their take-off, landing, taxiing, engine testing operations", said Paula Corujo
From the island organization they explain that "these Noise Insulation Plans are executed in those homes and buildings of sensitive uses (teaching, health and cultural that require special protection against noise pollution), which being included within the envelope of the isophones of the corresponding airport, the execution of the Noise Insulation Plans, involves carrying out a measurement of the needs of necessary supplementary insulation and payment of the actions".
