The councilor of the mixed group of the Cabildo of Lanzarote Armando Santana has intervened this Tuesday in the morning program Buenos días, Lanzarote of Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero to clarify if he will finally accept the proposal of Coalición Canaria to become part of the government group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote.
Santana has announced on the radio program that at the conclusion of the plenary session this Tuesday, April 7, he will deliver a declaration of intentions to the island's president, Oswaldo Betancort. Thus, he has indicated that he will "request a series of areas" and "a series of commitments."
If the island's president accepts, Santana would become part of the government group. The current councilor of the mixed group will request to lead the areas of Commerce, Animal Welfare, Citizen Participation, and the Biosphere Reserve. "Today I am bringing the Water Paths as a motion, and many do not know it, but it is an initiative of the Biosphere Reserve," he indicated.
"I am in politics not only to say what I would like to do, but if I have the opportunity to be there, I am going to commit 100% to doing it," he continued.
Thus, Santana has also requested in this document the creation of a Canarian Identity Observatory. In this sense, he pointed out that "many values are being lost in exchange for other festivals and initiatives."
The councilor has indicated that he will enter the government "not to be anyone's lifeguard," but because he ran in the elections, "with an electoral program." "Now the president has called me and wants to count on me," he said, "he needed someone like me to have initiative in certain areas that needed a boost."
Regarding the internal crisis of the Popular Party and the possible departure of Jacobo Medina, former vice president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, from the Government group, Santana denies that Betancort has commented on this possibility and has reported that he assured him that the pact is guaranteed "100%."
Thus, in this document he has renounced belonging to "any body or board of directors, where he receives a penny more of public money," as well as "having advisors or trusted personnel, which may involve an increase to the public coffers."
