The City Council of San Bartolomé, through the Department of Works and Services, is executing a special cleaning and conditioning campaign of drains, canals and ravines throughout the municipality. The objective of this device, of a preventive nature, is to guarantee the correct functioning of the surface drainage network before the imminent arrival of the rainy season.

This campaign focuses on the removal of sediments, debris and vegetation that may obstruct the free flow of water, in order to minimize the risk of ponding and flooding on public roads. Municipal workers are carrying out a thorough inspection and cleaning, paying particular attention to the town of Playa Honda, due to its orographic characteristics and its exposure to episodes of heavy rain.

Investment in infrastructure

The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, wanted to emphasize that "this preventive campaign is complemented by the important investments we have made in recent years in rainwater works, aimed at providing a structural and definitive solution to conflictive areas of ponding and improving the capacity of water channels."

For his part, the Councilor for Works and Services, Raúl de León, explained that "the campaign is being developed with our own human and mechanical resources, prioritizing the areas that, from the experience of previous years, are more sensitive. From the Department we have a firm commitment to the maintenance of public spaces and the safety of citizens. Prevention is the most effective tool to avoid major damage and ensure that the municipality is prepared to face the rains in the best possible conditions."

The City Council of San Bartolomé reminds citizens of the importance of not throwing waste on public roads, especially in sewers, and to collaborate in the cleaning of private plots, as these actions are vital for the proper functioning of the sanitation and rainwater network.
