The San Bartolomé City Council has increased the amount that students can access to 1,000 euros, which they can combine with the two lines of aid, 300 euros for transport and 700 for accommodation.
The mayor, Isidro Pérez, considers this to be a "great piece of news", since in recent years "the allocations have been progressively increased, until they could be set at this amount."
Pérez assures that the Consistory is aware "of the difficulties that families with students have", and that these aids serve so that they can cover "some of the numerous expenses of the students."
For her part, the Councilor for Education, Alma María González, points out that these aids for the 2021-2022 academic year will benefit more than 300 young people from the municipality. "In this moment of crisis, this aid is even more necessary to contribute from this City Council to cover the expenses caused by studying outside the island", she states.
The City Council emphasizes that in the next municipal plenary session to be held on Thursday, the "Regulatory Bases for Transport and Accommodation Aid for Students of the Municipality of the San Bartolomé City Council, fiscal year 2022 (academic year 2021-2022)" will be raised, highlighting the compatibility between the two lines of aid. Once the Bases are published, the call for them will be ordered.
The purpose of the Bases is the granting of study aid, taking into account the concurrence in the beneficiaries of the condition of students of the municipality of San Bartolomé during the academic year, in the modalities of Baccalaureate, Training Cycles and University Studies, as long as they are not taught on the island or within the municipality, and comply with the requirements set out in these bases.
