The San Bartolomé City Council has launched a new Social Employment Plan 2025-2026, which will allow the incorporation of 47 workers for a period of 12 months, with the aim of strengthening municipal services and improving the employability of the municipality's residents.
This plan is developed within the framework of the Framework Agreement for Collaboration between the Canary Employment Service, the Federation of Canary Municipalities, and SEPE, for the execution of tasks of public utility and social reintegration. The initiative has a subsidy of 308,799.53 euros, financed by the Canary Employment Service and SEPE from the PIEC 2025 and Sectoral Conference funds, and with a municipal contribution of 800,000 euros, which reflects the City Council's firm commitment to employment and the improvement of public services.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez, highlighted that "this Social Employment Plan is a clear demonstration of this City Council's firm commitment to employment policies as a tool for social justice, offering real opportunities to people facing greater difficulties while simultaneously strengthening municipal public services".
The Councilor for Employment, Alma González, pointed out that "this Social Employment Plan is a key tool for offering job opportunities to people in vulnerable situations, while reinforcing essential areas of the municipality."
The hired individuals, of whom more than 50% are women, will be distributed across various professional categories, including painting professionals, construction and masonry workers, carpenters, plumbers, welders, waste collectors, sports facility maintenance staff, drivers, cleaning staff, early childhood educators, pedagogues, social integration specialists, administrative staff, technical architects, home care providers, social workers, document digitization specialists, and cultural animation staff.
González highlighted that "this plan not only contributes to job creation but also improves the employability of participating individuals, allowing them to gain experience and skills that facilitate their future integration into the workforce."
With this measure, the San Bartolomé City Council is making progress in reducing unemployment in the municipality and reaffirms its commitment to public employment policies that promote social cohesion and the construction of a more just and inclusive society.
