The mayor of San Bartolomé received the union representative of CCOO, Thais Murillo, on Thursday morning, who showed the mayor his concern about the possibility that Correos will proceed to reduce the workforce, an action that "is being carried out in other points, and that could also affect the municipality and the public postal service" as reported to the Consistory
For his part, Tejera showed in the meeting his concern "about the delays and breaches of notification deadlines, among others, that the neighborhood of the municipality is suffering. “From the City Council we do not understand the decline in services because Correos offers a fundamental service to the neighborhood, especially in rural areas, which are also among the most affected, such as La Florida, El Islote, Mozaga or in San Bartolomé the Calderetas area, although it is true that the delays are being pressing in all the localities of the municipality of San Bartolomé without exception”, he pointed out.
According to information provided, "part of the municipality does not have a postman, because a postman is in a situation of incapacity and situations such as the one raised are not being covered with sufficient personnel, so the public postal service is not being offered as it should be or in the stipulated time."
From the City Council it is stated that contacts have already been initiated to hold a meeting with those responsible on the island, so that they can report on the current situation and foreseeable solutions proposed by Correos to improve the service.
