The Canary Islands Housing Institute has resolved to grant a direct subsidy to the San Bartolomé City Council for a total of 637,756.18 euros, which will be used for the rehabilitation of privately owned homes.

This subsidy, which will have an execution period of 18 months, aims to carry out rehabilitation works in isolated homes or inside homes in buildings located in the municipality.

The mayor, Isidro Pérez, explained that with this subsidy the City Council "will be able to help a large number of residents of San Bartolomé to make adjustments to their homes in accordance with the accessibility and environmental sustainability conditions necessary to adapt them to modernity."

Among the works that can be covered with the subsidy are reforms to adapt the home to people with functional diversity and reduced mobility; installation of systems that improve accessibility and autonomy in the use of the home for people with functional disabilities and reduced mobility; reforms in kitchens, bathrooms or toilets; interior electrical installations of low voltage or plumbing and sanitation; works related to the state of conservation of roofs, terraces, facades and party walls; reinforcement or partial replacement of structural elements; and, in general, all works that provide homes with minimum habitability conditions, in accordance with the provisions of current legislation.

The Councilor for Urban Planning, Marlene Romero, explained that the bases of the call for which residents who wish to do so can apply for the subsidy to carry out any work, reform, adaptation or installation related to those detailed above will be published soon. "This is an important action to improve the accessibility and sustainability of homes in the municipality," says the councilor.

Likewise, the mayor wanted to congratulate the technical team of the San Bartolomé City Council for "the constant effort in obtaining subsidies for the municipality that result in the improvement of the well-being of the municipality's neighborhood."
