A total of 34 illegal immigrants landed this Sunday on the island of Lanzarote, mostly from Morocco. All occupants of the two boats are in good health, except for one adult who had to be transferred to the Hospital because he presented a medical condition with nausea and vomiting. In a first analysis by the Civil Guard, it is estimated that a total of 11 minors have arrived.
The first boat was detected by the S.I.V.E. radars at 22:10 hours on Saturday, September 15, when it was sailing several miles from the coast. The "Almirante Díaz Pimienta" Patrol Boat of the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard came to its aid, and an hour later the agents managed to rescue its occupants when the boat was barely 800 meters from Los Ancones (Teguise), a place on the "rocky and dangerous coastline" for the arrival of this type of boat, as described by the Civil Guard.
A total of 19 immigrants arrived on this boat, in good health, who were transferred to Puerto Naos (Arrecife). All the newcomers are males of Maghrebi origin, 12 adults from Morocco (6 born in Sidi Ifni and the rest born in Tiznit, Agadir, Tioursa and El Aaiún) together with 7 minors between the ages of 13 and 17, 6 born in Sidi Ifni (Morocco) and 1 from Mauritania.
The adults were transferred to the National Police Station of Arrecife while the minors have been taken to the General Hospital of Lanzarote to undergo a series of bone tests to determine the exact age of each one.
SECOND BOAT
The second boat was detected by the S.I.V.E. at 05:30 hours this morning sailing 5 miles from Charco del Palo (Haría) heading towards a coastal area also with a dangerous orography, as confirmed by sources from the Civil Guard.
The "Almirante Díaz Pimienta" Patrol Boat set sail to rescue them and at 07:00 hours the civil guards managed to rescue its 15 occupants when they were 1 kilometer from the coast, being taken to Arrecife. This group was made up of 15 Moroccans, 13 men (9 adults and 4 minors between 14 and 17 years old) together with 2 adult women. Upon arrival on land, at around 08:00 hours on Sunday, September 16, an adult male was taken to the Hospital because he presented a medical condition with nausea and vomiting.
