The City Council of Teguise has started the works of adaptation and improvement of the sports court of the Teguisol residential, in Costa Teguise. This is an intervention long requested by the Chinijos Handball Club and other sports groups, who demanded an ideal space for the practice of beach handball and other outdoor modalities.
The project, budgeted at 40,000 euros, has been awarded to a specialized company and will also have the collaboration of the council's own staff, which will allow the work to be carried out in a coordinated manner. The intervention contemplates the transformation of the current enclosure into a multi-purpose court, with the incorporation of gravel, installation of new goals, renovation of lighting, showers, repainting and comprehensive improvement of the infrastructure.
The mayoress of Teguise, Olivia Duque, has stressed that "this type of actions are a reflection of a management that listens and acts. We know how important it is for clubs to have adequate spaces, and we are working to ensure that the facilities are up to the real needs of the users who practice their sports in this space every day".
For his part, the Councilor for Works, Eugenio Robayna, explained that "a practical and functional intervention has been designed, which makes the most of municipal resources to improve an installation that has been in a precarious situation for years. From the Works area we will continue to prioritize actions that allow us to improve the state of the public spaces of the municipality".
The works have a planned execution period during the summer season, at the end of which the court will be fully enabled for use by sports clubs and residents of Costa Teguise, thus offering a renovated and adequately conditioned space for the practice of outdoor sports activities.
