Arrecife has increased the safety of the coastline of the capital of Lanzarote with the new self-inflating devices for aquatic rescue. Through the Department of Beaches and Environment, 21 ‘OneUP’ self-inflating devices have been distributed.
All the personnel that the Arrecife City Council's Department of Beaches has deployed for the surveillance and lifeguarding of the beaches now have these systems for aquatic rescue and to prevent possible drowning of bathers.
Along with the rescue personnel on the Arrecife coastline, the City Council has assigned these mechanisms to the vehicles of the Local Police and Civil Protection, for immediate use in the event of possible assistance to prevent drowning.
The Arrecife City Council has received them from the Emergency Department of the Government of the Canary Islands, which has delivered this equipment to the 77 municipalities with bathing areas in the Archipelago. The 'OneUp' are innovative lifesaving systems, patented by a Canary Island inventor, that inflate automatically upon contact with water. The personnel of the Local Police, Civil Protection and the lifeguards and lifeguards of El Reducto beach already have this material, which will help to intervene in cases of possible drowning.
