The Tías City Council has announced that during the nights of this Friday and Saturday, August 11 and 12, the Purple Point booth will be reactivated, promoted through the Equality area, and managed by the Mararía association with two social workers, a psychologist and a lawyer.

Tías has taken the opportunity to highlight "the exemplary behavior of the young people who enjoyed the massive festivities in El Varadero last weekend in honor of Our Lady of Carmen and hopes that this behavior will be repeated in the events planned for this weekend, which will once again have the Purple Point service for information on sexist aggressions."

The objective of the Purple Point, an information and awareness point on the safety of women that is installed in massive events such as concerts and festivals, is to protect and provide support in cases where a woman may feel harassed, pressured or a victim of any type of aggression.

The technicians of this service emphasize "the good behavior of the young people in these festivities, as very few incidents were registered considering the number of people who attended El Varadero. We hope that this behavior will be repeated this weekend."

Young people, aged between 15 and 17, were, in 90%, the ones who most approached the Purple Point last weekend, which attended to about 60 people with information, answers to questions and delivery of condoms. Most of them were young residents in different municipalities of the island.
