The Plenary of the Security and Emergency Consortium of Lanzarote agreed this Thursday, December 22, to award the supply of 7 new intervention vehicles for 1,239,185.09 euros, including IGIC, which will improve the fleet of vehicles of the Central and South fire stations, in the municipalities of Arrecife and Yaiza.

With the unanimous vote of the members of the entity, the files for the purchase of a heavy urban fire engine, for 403,509.84 euros, are concluded; a light urban fire engine, for 304,523.07 euros; a heavy vehicle rescue unit, for 410,878.93 euros, these three vehicles awarded to the company IMPRESA SA; a pick-up van, for 59,441.82 euros to the company TRANSTEL SA; as well as three equipped jet skis, for 60,831.43 euros to the company NAUTI BOAC JET S.L.U.

The awarded companies have a delivery period for the vehicles of between eight and twelve months, depending on the type of unit involved.

“This historic investment is possible thanks to the extraordinary contribution of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, presided over by María Dolores Corujo, our majority partner, which fulfills its promise to equip the Consortium with more material and human resources, to increase our response capacity in the event of any incident", says the president of the Consortium, Marcos Bergaz.

“Of the nine initial lots - for 1.5 million euros -, five have been awarded, precisely the most necessary and with the largest budget due to their technical characteristics”, Bergaz points out.

“In the case of the lots declared void, we are already updating the conditions to re-tender them, in times of tension in the markets and difficulties in supplying these goods”, clarifies Bergaz.

On the other hand, the councilor points out that “with the agreement of the Consortium's plenary session, we continue to advance in the objectives of the mandate, among which was to increase the number of troops, and we have incorporated eleven new firefighters, as well as increase the fleet of vehicles at the service of the island's security, which is much closer".

Finally, the manager of the Consortium, Enrique Espinosa, remarks that "all these actions seek to improve the service that we provide to the society of Lanzarote 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, which translates into more than a thousand services a year”.
