Avenida de las Playas in Puerto del Carmen, the Plaza de las Naciones area, in Los Pocillos, and the area near the Tourist Office, near Playa Grande, will feature towers with new, more efficient and lower consumption luminaires, which are also characterized by offering a wide area of luminosity.
The Tías City Council has invested a total of 177,603.57 euros in these luminaires, of which 140,570.96 euros have been subsidized by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, the Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Government of the Canary Islands, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) within the framework of the Canary Islands Operational Program 2014-2020. 37,032.61 euros were spent from municipal coffers.
The subsidies correspond to the lighting replacement project 1 and 2 of Avenida de las Playas for an amount of 40,177.37 euros, the lighting replacement project of towers 3, 4 and 5 of Avenida de las Playas for an amount of 47,836.10 euros and the lighting replacement project of towers 6, 7 and 8 of Avenida de las Playas for an amount of 52,557.49 euros.
The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, states that "the municipality of Tías joins all initiatives aimed at energy efficiency in public infrastructures", while recalling that the City Council is adhered to the Pact of Mayors for compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which include Action for Climate and Affordable and Non-Polluting Energy, among others.
The Tías City Council apologizes for any inconvenience these works may be causing, as they will last for two weeks.
