.The mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, accompanied by the councilors of Tourism and New Technologies, Nerea Santana, and of the Mobile Park, Transport and Cleaning, Francisco Javier Aparicio Betancort, has activated the lighting of this section of the Avenida de las Playas. The execution of these works is integrated into the second phase of the modernization project of the Avenida de las Playas, in Puerto del Carmen.
The Tías City Council has proceeded to activate this lighting, still pending the final reception of all the works, at the request of the tourism sector and residents in the area who, despite the works being completed for some time, lacked the connection to the Endesa Unelco network. Given this need, the Tías City Council has temporarily proceeded to activate this lighting coinciding with the dates of Holy Week, where the influx of tourists and residents to this tourist town is very high.
Second phase of the Maritime Promenade
In recent months, the second phase of the urbanization of the Avenida de las Playas between Pedro Barba and Avenida de Italia streets has been carried out in this part of Puerto del Carmen, between the vicinity of the Hotel San Antonio and La Peñita beach, within the global financing of the Agreement for the Expansion of the Strategy for the Improvement of Tourist Public Spaces in the Canary Islands, financed by the Ministry of Tourism and the Government of the Canary Islands.
Along with the improvement of paving and street furniture, the installation of new lampposts and a public lighting network was contemplated, with a more avant-garde and integrated image for the entire Puerto del Carmen promenade.
The works were tendered through the public company of the Government of the Canary Islands, Gestur, which is currently in the process of merging with other entities of the Canarian Executive. The Tías City Council is awaiting the total reception of these works, with gardening included, but given the need to provide this section of the Avenida with outdoor lighting, the temporary connection has been made in recent days.
Implementation of the ecoboulevards
For his part, the mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, announced at the end of this event that the tender for the works of the ecoboulevards in the La Tiñosa area will soon be launched, for which the Tías City Council has allocated nearly 3 million euros, from the municipal budgets.
