The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, and the Councilor for Public Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, held a working meeting at the Mayor's Office to supervise and learn about the progress of different projects that are completed, or in the drafting phase by the Department of Public Works of the Cabildo for its execution in the capital of Lanzarote.

One of the actions planned by the Department of Public Works, led by the island councilor Jacobo Medina, is focused on creating new accesses from the Tahíche road to Arrecife, to access the Maneje neighborhood that is experiencing a significant urban boom with the creation of 400 new public homes, of which 201 are currently under construction.

In this meeting, the mayor, who is also directly responsible for the Public Works Area in the City Council, and the island councilor, reviewed the status of the main works that are currently underway, which have island financing through the island Cooperation plans, or whose upcoming tenders are scheduled, in other cases.

During the meeting, both public officials analyzed key projects that will mark an advance in the mobility, accessibility and urban modernization of Arrecife. Among them, they have studied the projects for the integral renovation of Calle Triana and a second phase in Manolo Millares, from its accesses through the old area of the Municipal Cemetery to the intersection with the Antonio Zerolo school.

In this meeting, the mayor learned firsthand about the progress of the project to improve the road that connects the towns of Costa Teguise and Arrecife, through the area of Los Mármoles and Lloret. In the landscaping section, the improvement of the main entrance roads to the city will be undertaken, with interventions in the LZ-101 (entrance through Puerto Naos) and in the LZ-20 (access to the Doctor José Molina Orosa University Hospital), with the aim of offering a more careful, modern image in accordance with the transformation of the urban image of Arrecife.

The works of the Church of Las Palmas will conclude in November

Regarding investment in public spaces, Jacobo Medina informed the mayor that "the works on the Plaza de la Iglesia de San Ginés are in their final phase and will conclude at the beginning of November, which will allow residents and visitors to enjoy a renovated space adapted to current needs."

The mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León, positively valued the cooperation with the Public Works Area of the Cabildo and stressed that these planned actions "respond to the need to transform Arrecife into a more modern, accessible and renovated city for those of us who live here, or for the thousands of visitors."

For his part, the island councilor of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, highlighted that with this visit to Arrecife "he is starting a new round of meetings that he will carry out in the last quarter of the year with all the municipalities of the island, with the purpose of following up on the works in progress and coordinating those that will be put into execution immediately."

"We are reinforcing collaboration between institutions because each municipality needs specific solutions and projects adapted to its reality. In the case of Arrecife, as the island capital, it requires an additional effort to bring it up to the level of what its residents demand and the role it plays as the economic and social engine of Lanzarote, where almost fifty percent of the island's population resides," Medina said.

From the Department of Public Works of the Island Council, its commitment to improving the infrastructure and modernization of all the municipalities of the island is reiterated, launching investments that result in the quality of life of the citizens and in the projection of Lanzarote as a modern, sustainable and accessible destination.
