The members of Nuevas Generaciones of the PP of Lanzarote have entered the open controversy after the suspension of the plenary session in which Juan Brito was to be named Favorite Son, and they have done so by demanding an apology from the president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés. According to the PP youth, San Ginés uttered "serious insults" against the Popular Party and the island president, Astrid Pérez, both last Saturday and in the following days.

In addition, they have made it clear that they will not heed the call made last Tuesday by the president, who asked that parties and the media lower the tension regarding this issue so as not to cause more damage to Brito and to be able to set a new date for the plenary session. "San Ginés cannot ask for the tension to be lowered when he has not yet apologized for the disqualifications made against the president, Astrid Pérez, and an entire political formation," Nuevas Generaciones said in a statement.

The young people of the Popular Party insist that San Ginés' "harsh disqualifications" are "totally out of place and absolutely unjustified." In this sense, Nuevas Generaciones have "reminded" the president that the designation of favorite son "is an institutional act and, as such, must be agreed upon and participated by all members of the Corporation, both from the government group and from the opposition."

For the young popular, "it is sad to have to remind a president that the Cabildo is made up of each and every one of the councilors of the political groups represented in the Plenary and not only the members of the island government."

"San Ginés believes that his position has no limits"

In his opinion, "the problem with Pedro San Ginés is his personal conviction that his position has no limits, when the organic regulations of the corporation clearly establish what his powers are and, in this specific case, the necessary requirements to comply with a procedure of these characteristics."

The PP youth believe that "after the forgiveness to Don Juan Brito and his family for the serious mistake he committed, Pedro San Ginés' next step should be to apologize to the Popular Party against which he lashed out without reason for more than twenty minutes in the press conference offered last Saturday after his decision to suspend the plenary session."

Some "enormously offensive" disqualifications, according to the PP, "which are reprehensible, intolerable and unworthy of a person who holds the government of an island and even less so when the Popular Party has always expressed its opinions with respect and without insults."

Finally, the youth organization regrets the fact that Pedro San Ginés "does not have the nobility and humility to sit down with the opposition groups and channel the procedure in the correct way, as he should have done from the beginning, without having to resort to any mediator or intermediary." Thus, they have referred to San Ginés' proposal that the Minister of Agriculture Francisco Fabelo open a negotiation between all the groups to channel the situation and set a new date for the plenary session.
