The Assembly of Parents of the IES Zonzamas has also responded this Thursday to the statement released this week by the Ministry of Education, and has done so by denying that the Canarian Government has responded to their demands. If this Wednesday it was the teachers who came out against that statement, attacking the Ministry, now it has been the parents of the students.

"The community of the IES Zonzamas is not satisfied with the decision of the Ministry, as stated, inaccurately, in the latest statements," they point out. Thus, despite what was stated by the regional Executive, they maintain that Education still "does not respond to any" of their demands.

"We ratify the requests of the School Council of the center, in which the 'en bloc' departure of students and teachers to the future IES Mercedes Medina in the 2017-2018 school year is requested," the parents defend. It should be remembered that the educational community is in favor of the creation of a vocational training center in Zonzamas, but not in the changes that are going to be applied for this, restructuring the educational centers of Arrecife.

Last Tuesday, the Ministry stated that they had modified the planned plans, attending to the requests of teachers and parents. Thus, they assured that all teachers would be assigned to Mercedes Medina. However, they clarified that "temporarily", some would have to work in another center, while the necessary works were carried out. And it is in that period that the parents and teachers disagree, who denounce that it will be necessary to wait years and even talk about a "trap assignment".

For their part, the parents defend that "there is still time to manage the transfer with the necessary works" so that the complete transfer can be made for the 2017-2018 school year. "As mothers and fathers, we reiterate our right to be heard," they conclude.
