The General Director of Water of the Government of the Canary Islands, Orlando Umpiérrez, has announced the completion of the works undertaken in the town of Caleta de Famara, in the municipality of Teguise, corresponding to the project called 'Sewerage networks in several municipalities of Lanzarote', which also includes actions in the municipalities of San Bartolomé, Tías, Tinajo and Yaiza and for whose execution the Government of the Canary Islands has allocated the amount of 463,510.73 euros.

The General Directorate of Water of the Government of the Canary Islands has completed the project planned for the municipality of Teguise, which is being developed in the Caleta de Famara area, specifically around a group of houses known as El Roque or Perejil, and which has had an execution budget of 66,656.78 euros.

The execution of the project in the aforementioned area, which consists of a series of unpaved streets intertwined with each other, is due to the municipal need to have 7 branches that converge in a regulating reinforced concrete tank, with a capacity of 18 m3, located below the level of the main street where a pumping station has been built to pump the sewage that is discharged into the aforementioned tank to the treatment plant located about 200 meters from this station.

In this sense, Orlando Umpiérrez expressed the need to continue collaborating with the municipal administrations and the Island Water Council to continue undertaking this type of work in order to complete the island's sanitation network, one of its main objectives. In fact, according to the Director General of Water, next week the works are scheduled to begin in the town of Playa Honda, in the municipality of San Bartolomé, which will consist of an action on Toldilla Street.

The sanitation in this municipality will be completed with another action in the town of San Bartolomé, specifically at the confluence of Malagueña and Escardillo streets. For both works, the General Directorate of Water of the Government of the Canary Islands has planned an investment of 65,365.32 euros.

Sanitation of San Bartolomé

The action on Toldilla Street consists of replacing the existing sanitation network on this street and on a section of Botavara Street, perpendicular to the previous one. Due to the longitudinal slope of this street, the network is separated into two branches. The first of these starts from the middle of Toldilla Street and connects with the existing network at the intersection of this street with Tajamar Street.

The second branch also starts from the center of Toldilla Street and runs in the opposite direction to branch 1, reaching Botavara Street and running through it until connecting with the existing network at the intersection of Botavara Street and Fayna Street. It is planned, within the aforementioned project, that all homes will be provided with domestic connections consisting of the inspection chamber and the connection pipes to the general network.

The second action that will take place in the case of San Bartolomé corresponds to the replacement of the existing pipe in Malagueña and Escardillo streets. This is a single branch whose head well is located at the intersection of Malagueña and José María Gil streets. From this point, the collector runs along Malagueña Street to the intersection with Escardillo Street, continuing along this street to the intersection with General Franco Street, where it discharges into the existing network in the latter. As with the action in Playa Honda, the general network, the domestic connections, the inspection wells and the demolition and replacement of pavements on both sidewalks and roads are planned.
