The candidate of the Canarian Coalition for the mayoralty of Teguise, Olivia Duque, has proposed through a press release the creation of a Landscape Council that "works transversally in different departments to restore to our environment the aesthetics and care that César Manrique instilled in us," says the Canarian Coalition.
The proposal entails "Cesarizing" the Teguise landscape, understanding it in her words "as a whole that affects a lamppost, the wiring of a facade, or public furniture."
"We have to preserve our home, our idiosyncrasy, what makes us unique, different, and chosen," she argues.
In this sense, Duque emphasizes that in Teguise "two works integrated into the landscape have been executed recently: the civic center and the Costa Teguise football field. "This is a starting point for our idea of future work," she adds.
In addition, she explains that her strategy involves "the formation of a technical team to develop an ordinance that establishes the materials or aesthetic requirements with which to work," for example, to homogenize the image of the municipality, make urban planning of the public space that makes it comfortable and accessible, or establish guidelines to not lose the identifying elements of our buildings."
"In my idea of the future, the so-called cupcakes that the mayor of Arrecife has placed in the capital of the island would not fit," she says. "Because I believe that César Manrique has much more beautiful and original sketches that can serve as a starting point to beautify our roundabouts or streets," Duque clarifies.

On the other hand, the candidate "considers it vital to create volunteer programs that promote respect and environmental activism." In addition, "our awareness campaigns will be dynamic, fun, inclusive, because they can be practiced by young and old and feed back between them," she mentions.
Another idea to project is the creation of natural shadows, "increasing vegetation and green spaces to beautify, but also to socialize," they add.
"We are working on a specification of almost one million euros with this objective." However, "to include all the beaches of the municipality, we need the regulations of the PRUG or the PROG to be adapted to the reality and needs of our neighbors." In addition, Duque insists on "opening a line of subsidies to clean up and paint facades."
She also assures that "I commit to sitting down with the Government of the Canary Islands to promote the Special Plan of La Villa that allows us to maintain the heritage in good condition."
