Olivia Duque, considers that it is a mistake that "the municipal cooperation plans" for the year 2023 promoted by the Lanzarote Council "have suffered a cut of almost 40%".
Duque recalls that "in this 2023 we are talking about an economic injection that plummets to 873,000 euros". "We are not moving forward, but we are going backwards,” she argues.
The nationalist candidate insists on remembering that these plans aim to “grant a direct subsidy provided for in the annual budgets with which to collaborate in the execution of works of municipal interest.”
According to Duque, it must be remembered that the Cabildo's budget this year has had an increase of “53 million euros, benefiting from a significant surplus, because now administrations are collecting more through taxes.” In this sense, she considers it “contradictory and fraudulent” that “this investment with which we promote local construction projects, that is, the one that the neighbor really perceives and demands, is reduced”.
On the other hand, she maintains that “it cannot be said that the financing of these plans is subject to the presentation of projects”, but that “the Cabildo distributes some funds” and then we “select the specific initiatives in which to invest them”, she acknowledges.
That is, "we project based on the investment that the Cabildo determines”. On this occasion, the municipality of Teguise is the second with "the most investment in the island's Works plan", but far from the "almost 2.2 million euros" that the Arrecife City Council will receive, they make clear.
For the CC candidate "it is a mistake that some funds that help us speed up many important actions with the support of its technical office are reduced as a whole, going to 5.8 million in this year", she emphasizes. For Duque these are examples "the institutions closest to the citizen are despised, reducing the economic item that is allocated to a plan that precisely helps to improve public space with more modern, accessible and adapted services and facilities”.

Olivia Duque asks herself: “How can it be justified that the investment in Commerce, Museo del Timple, Fiestas del Carmen, cultural activities or purchase of sports equipment has been eliminated from the subsidy plan for 2023?”
In addition, she recognizes that her municipality "suffers an investment imbalance with respect to the money received by other municipalities", which have "fewer urgent needs than Teguise".
As an example, she has referred to "the pipeline and sanitation plan of La Graciosa, the new school of Costa Teguise, the roofs of the courts of the educational centers of La Villa or La Graciosa, or the construction of social housing".
