The councilor of the Mixed Group - NC in the Island Council of Lanzarote, Óscar Noda, has achieved a unanimous vote in favor of the motion in the plenary session this Tuesday in which it was proposed "the creation or addition of companies to commit to hiring people in situations or at risk of social vulnerability."
In addition, Óscar Noda requested that "the aforementioned companies have tax benefits and/or subsidies from the Cabildo itself, that they have social recognition, that campaigns be disseminated about these benefits for companies interested in joining the network, as well as the provision of a digital platform that favors contact between companies and job seekers."
Thus, the island government expressed its approval of this initiative and, in the words of the Councilor for Social Welfare, Marciano Acuña, it was recognized that "the state and regional regulations already have tax incentives for hiring, but dissemination policies are still necessary and we will also be there, and together with the specialized social inclusion service created in 2023, we have expanded its function to provide support to those people at risk of vulnerability and help them find employment and housing solutions."
Therefore, this proposal by Noda has achieved the favorable vote of the entire corporation, from left to right, because "it is considered socially necessary to guarantee the right of all people to the public system of Social Services, whether through the planning of social policies and the restructuring and/or creation of new programs with adequate funding to optimize and guarantee basic services, or by orienting actions towards the prevention of risk situations and the promotion of conditions that allow people in situations of difficulty or need to maintain the greatest possible autonomy in their lives." The councilor argues, who has thanked the rest of the groups for their favorable vote and has congratulated the Social Welfare area for its technical work.
In short, according to Óscar Noda, "this social need has led to an increase in demand in the system to which, thanks to this initiative, an adequate response will be given and represents the recovery of social policies based on the rights of citizens and personal dignity, in order to overcome the current political lines oriented, almost exclusively, to the processing of financial benefits in the face of situations of social emergency, that is, to welfare and charity. That is why, to change this behavior, we must promote in a more established way the autonomy of vulnerable people and the best way to do it is by generating employment for them, guaranteeing a dignified way out of those circumstances."
