NC regrets the "deception" of the Teguise government group to the residents of Caleta de Famara

The Local Committee of Nueva Canarias (NC) in the municipality of Teguise wanted to express its "discontent" with the "deception" suffered by the residents of Caleta de Famara by the conservative government group of CC, PP and Vox, and especially by the area of Mobility, Roads and Works.

Thus, they echo the "discontent" expressed by the 'Caleta de Famara Neighborhood Association' (AVECAFAM), which in a statement indicate that the government group has "excluded" them from participating in the execution of the 'Mobility and Signage Plan' of the town, after having held several meetings with municipal officials and having concluded in common a consensual mobility plan.

For the councilor of the City Council of Teguise, Fernando Jiménez, this government group "does not understand what citizen participation means since it is not only meeting and taking photos with the neighbors, but making decisions based on a consensual deliberation." For Nueva Canarias citizen participation should be "as transparent as possible, with regulated procedures that bind both parties and a work schedule." "What the government group has done in Famara looks little or nothing like a citizen participation process," says Jiménez.

Similarly, the Canarians express that these unilateral behaviors of the Teguise government group express well the "authoritarian and anti-democratic drift" that they are carrying out since the beginning of the legislature, expressing themselves in "bad answers" to the members of the opposition and neighbors who send them their demands; the "brief and ridiculous answers" to the questions of the opposition groups; or the "coercion of interposing amendments to the municipal budgets."

"They are getting the hang of the purest authoritarianism and behave like caciques in their farm. From the party we are going to combat it with more proposals, more questions and more being on the street with the neighbor," says Fernando Jiménez.
