The Social Welfare Area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Arrecife City Council sponsored this Thursday, June 27, the association Mujeres sin sombra, a newly created organization that aims to give "visibility and highlight the different problems faced by both women who are dedicated to caring for people, and those who suffer from some intellectual disability".
The Councilor for Social Welfare of the Cabildo, Marci Acuña, highlighted that the entity offers a "space dedicated to women who work in the third sector." He also pointed out that the association was born from the vocation to "strengthen and advance improvements for people who suffer from this type of disease, as well as to value the role of caregivers."
Marci Acuña congratulated all the people who make up this entity, and especially its founder, Lucía Ballestero. He also assured that the Cabildo "fully supports Mujeres sin sombra on its path to creating a more egalitarian society with more rights."
For her part, the Councilor for Social Welfare of the capital City Council, Maite Corujo, highlighted the "importance and relevance" of the association in the community. "Entities like this are important to add awareness to society," she added.
Mujeres sin sombra seeks to generate a "friendly and comfortable environment" for women who are dedicated to the care sector of people with disabilities in the island territory, as well as for the patient.
