The socialist candidate for mayor of Arrecife, Alfredo Mendoza, accuses the Arrecife City Council of "blocking" the land transfer file in which the Auditorium-Congress Palace is planned.

According to Mendoza, the council has "pending" to transfer to the Cabildo of Lanzarote this space in which the island's Congress Palace is planned to be built. "The file has been completed by the Cabildo for four months and currently is only pending that procedure so that the Cabildo of Lanzarote, presided over by María Dolores Corujo, can finally award the construction of the longed-for Congress Palace," says Alfredo Mendoza.

The lack of an auditorium, a serious deficiency

“We are in 2023 and this is still a serious deficiency in terms of public facilities on the island, a flaw that the current government group of the Cabildo is in a position to solve today,” noted the socialist candidate for mayor of Arrecife.

Afredo Mendoza recalls that already in the last plenary session of the Cabildo, Dolores Corujo "earnestly" requested some councilors of the Canarian Coalition to transfer to the city council the "request" that, "expeditiously", they make available the land to facilitate the construction of the Congress Palace.

"The same happens with sports courts in Argana Alta," says Alfredo Mendoza

"Lanzarote is the only island in the Canary Islands that does not have an Auditorium-Congress Palace," explains Mendoza. Since the beginning of the mandate, Dolores Corujo "focused on adapting the project to the planning regulations in force in Arrecife, with the sole objective of overcoming the obstacles that have kept this important project in an urban limbo for decades," emphasizes Alfredo Mendoza.

Finally, the candidate for mayor of Arrecife reminds the Arrecife City Council that the Cabildo processed "a year and four months ago" the request for inter-administrative collaboration to promote the construction of the sports courts of Argana Alta, "another important project for the population that to this day has not received a response from the municipal government of the Popular Party and the Canarian Coalition."
