The current general secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote and deputy in Congress, María Dolores Corujo, will be proclaimed general secretary again, as stipulated in the party's statutes, being the only candidate who has submitted to the candidacy submission process.
This Wednesday, at 12:00 hours, the deadline for submitting candidacies ended, thus confirming Corujo's re-election without the need to collect endorsements. "It is an honor and a great responsibility to continue leading the PSOE of Lanzarote at a key moment for our island and our organization. We will continue to firmly defend the sustainable development model that Lanzarote needs and combat the policies of those who look the other way in the face of the real problems of citizens," Corujo said after her proclamation.
María Dolores Corujo has a distinguished political career. She was mayor of San Bartolomé from 2011 to 2019, President of the Cabildo of Lanzarote from June 2019 to 2023, and was the first woman to be island secretary in the Canary Islands, a position she has held since 2012.
With all the documents already sent to the Island and Federal Executive Commission, the internal process of the PSOE of Lanzarote continues now with the information campaign to the militancy, the election of delegates and the elaboration of amendments to the framework report, if any. The assembly for the proposal of amendments and the election of delegates will be held between February 10 and 28.
"We are facing an exciting period of debate and reflection in which, as always, our militancy will play a leading role. The PSOE of Lanzarote is a strong party, with clear ideas and a solid project for the future of our land," Corujo concluded.
