The Lanzarote parliamentarian of the Canarian Nationalist Group, Jesús Machín Tavío, demands "immediate measures" that make it possible for the CEIP La Garita to have the auxiliary staff to care for students with special needs, promised by the Ministry of Education, and that they have been requesting "since the beginning of the course". The deputy has demanded solutions after exposing in the Canarian Chamber the case of a mother who has to go "every day at 11:00 in the morning to provide support to her son with autism, because there is no one in the center who can do it".
“What I find incredible is that despite the fact that the Ministry has recognized this need in the northern Lanzarote area, the Government continues to tell families that there is no money, that there are not enough resources”, Machín laments.
“I am telling the case of this mother and this center, but there are quite a few in this situation in the northern area of Lanzarote, where there is no enclave classroom. Families don't ask for so much, they even propose that a single assistant be appointed for the entire area and that they move around the centers”, he stressed.
Likewise, Machín values the work of the center's management team. "He has tried in I don't know how many ways to explain to the Ministry the need for this support staff, because that way neurotypical students can share a center with other students”, Machín concludes.
