The general strike in Lanzarote has had little follow-up among Health and Education workers, according to official data handled by the respective ministries, experiencing a day of practically total normality in both educational and health centers.
In the educational field, according to data from the Island Directorate of Education, only 7 percent of workers have supported the strike. Thus, of the 1,700 teachers on the island, only 120 have stopped on this day of general strike. The most affected center has been the IES of Tías, with 15 workers who have not attended their jobs.
According to the island director of Education, Juan Cruz, the educational day has passed "without any significant incident" and the school transport and dining services have functioned "normally". In addition, he says that most of the students have attended the centers.
In the case of Health workers, only 4.95 percent have supported the strike at the regional level during the night and morning shifts, according to data provided by the Ministry of Health, which states that they have not detailed the follow-up figures in Lanzarote "due to the low participation".
