Laura Peña became the winner of the second Guenia Song Festival of El Mojón, which took place on
Friday night, at the socio-cultural center, within the framework of the Virgen del Rosario festivities. The winner
performed "A woman like me", by Malú, and managed to take the first prize and the ovation of the public.
The gala was presented by the journalist from La voz de lanzarote, Ruth Gabilondo and Juan Alfonso Morales. It began at 9:30 p.m. with the performance of Rebeca Márquez, winner of the first edition of this contest.
Márquez took the stage to sing "Ave María", by Rafael. After her, and after the presentation of the jury,
the contest began, in which seven artists participated.
The second prize of the night went to Juanjo López, who performed "Todo por nada", by Camilo Sexto. In third place was Brizeyda Cabrera, who sang "María se bebe las calles", by Pasión Vega. The rest of the contestants were Carolina González, who took the stage singing "Sueños Rotos", by La Quinta Estación; Alexandra Díaz, who performed "Tú y yo volvemos al amor", by Mónica Naranjo; and Ylenia Pérez, who brought to the stage "Se nos rompió
el amor", by Rocío Jurado.
Finally, within the performances scored by the jury, Mariluz Casado participated, with "Es mi madre", by Isabel
González. After the performances, the jury went to a room to deliberate. Meanwhile, the show continued
with the song "Sigo enamorada de ti", by the singer Edurne, which was performed by Rebeca Márquez, who also
sang "Nada", composed for her by the lanzaroteña singer Isi Hernández.
Subsequently, the Tahíche Dance show was presented, which staged "Birds of Paradise", by the designer Borja Abreu.
Previously, five members of this group, who were celebrating their tenth anniversary in El Mojón, the first stage that
saw them perform, danced a funky.
The jury of the second contest of the Guenia El Mojón Song Festival was made up of Óscar Delgado,
member of the group Sintonía Show; Fefo Pérez, president and musical director of the Guagime folklore group;
José, singer of Mariachi Reposao; Carmen Arrocha, president of Afol; and Sandra Tolosa, who acted as president
without voice or vote. The first prize was given by Jonás Álvarez, president of the socio-cultural center, the second
by Jorge Toledo, secretary of the socio-cultural center, and the third by Fefo Pérez, president of the jury.
