The Lanzarote Water Consortium published this past Friday on the Public Sector Procurement Platform the conditions of the supply contract for the acquisition, with a budget of 2 million euros, of a minimum of 3,200 reverse osmosis membranes for the Seawater Desalination Plants (EDAM) Janubio and Díaz Rijo, belonging to the Lanzarote Water Consortium.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and of the Water Consortium, Oswaldo Betancort, points out that “our roadmap is clear and we do not deviate from the planned course. We continue investing to achieve a more sustainable integral water cycle, increase production, renew the networks and avoid the substantial water losses we suffer”.
The financing of the contract comes from a subsidy granted at the end of last year by the Ministry of Water of the Government of the Canary Islands in the process of approval by the Island Water Council of the declaration of water emergency.
“After awarding the works for the renovation and improvement of the pipes with a budget of 5 million euros, now we will also be able to increase the performance and quality of the water. Not only will water production be increased by 10%, but we will also reduce the consumption of kWh per m3”, according to the Minister of Water of the Cabildo, Domingo Cejas.
The deadline for submitting offers for this contract, in which the number of membranes is valued in a % and the improvement in the delivery time in 40%, is open until April 14, 2025. The execution period of the works to improve the production of drinking water is 5 months.
The opening of economic offers for this contract, which has been processed urgently and with a reduction in deadlines, according to the Public Sector Contracts Law, will be on April 16.
