The Cabildo of Lanzarote and the University Foundation of Las Palmas (FULP) have launched, with the participation of several companies and private entities, the Dual Training Program 'Lanzarote Inserta'. This initiative aims to improve access to the labor market for university graduates and young people who have completed Vocational Training, all under 30 years of age and without work experience.

The program has a budget of 113,800 euros, of which 60% is provided by the Cabildo and the remaining amount by the other participating entities. According to reports from the Cabildo, the program will benefit twelve students who will receive theoretical and practical training for ten months in nine private entities and in the Employment Area of the first Island Corporation, which will allow them to complete or acquire technical and transversal skills demanded by companies.

The island councilor for Employment, Manuel Cabrera, highlighted at the presentation of the project that it will allow the fellows to "show their talent and their ability to provide added value to companies." In this sense, he announced the intention of the Cabildo to "create hiring aids that reward in their bases those companies that hire people who have strived to study because with their training they will help the companies themselves grow and, therefore, create new jobs".

Addresses three shortcomings

For his part, the managing director of the FULP, Eduardo Manrique de Lara, pointed out that 'Lanzarote Inserta' addresses "three important shortcomings that higher education presents, such as the lack of practical experience of students, the deficient training in skills that the market demands such as communication, teamwork or innovation, and the authentic black hole that is language teaching".

The presentation ceremony was attended by the twelve selected young people as well as representatives of the participating private entities, which are: Asociación Tinguafaya, Caja Siete, Canary Fly, Canarias 7, Diagnósticos Médicos Especiales, Diego Pastoriza Estévez, Isla Paraíso 2000 S.L., Rafael Alejandro Muñoz Ruiz Arquitecto and Yaiza Playa Blanca S.L.
