The parliamentarian and island president of the PP, Ástrid Pérez, launched harsh criticism this Wednesday against the Government of the Canary Islands regarding "the disastrous management it has made of the economic resources allocated to the roads of the archipelago through the Canary Islands-State agreement", especially with respect to Lanzarote. "Together with El Hierro, it is the island where the least has been invested in roads during the last 20 years," he warned.
During her speech following an appearance by the Minister of Public Works, Pérez criticized the government's "inability" to manage the 1,700 million euros allocated to the islands between 2006 and 2017, noting that "in the case of Lanzarote, only 90 million euros were executed, five million less than La Gomera, and compared to the 164 million of Fuerteventura", which he considers "a disgrace in the eyes of everyone". "And we are not going to allow it anymore," warned the deputy of the Popular Party.
Pérez also stated that her party will be "vigilant" to the development of the new agreement and how the investments will be allocated "because until now the territorial distribution of funds has been sectarian and discriminatory". Similarly, she questions that the Minister of Public Works of the executive has refused to give explanations about the low execution of the budget in Lanzarote as well as the actions that are planned to be carried out throughout 2019.
During her speech, the deputy has accused the PSOE of "intentionally" delaying the new agreement for almost seven months "to then steal 334 million euros from the 1,200 committed by the previous government of the Popular Party from the Canarians." Money that, she indicated, "has been taken from the Canary Islands to divert it to Catalonia."
