Lanzarote leads tourist spending in the Canary Islands according to data published by the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC) in its Tourist Spending Survey for the third quarter of 2025. With 196.27 euros per tourist per day, the island not only leads the regional ranking but also marks the highest value recorded in the Canary Islands since 2010, the year the statistical series began.

This result places Lanzarote as a benchmark for tourist spending within the archipelago, above the Canary Islands average (188.05 euros), and confirms the evolution towards a model that combines quality, experience, and greater spending capacity in the destination. Total spending for the quarter amounts to 1,116 million euros, representing a year-on-year growth of 7.3%

ISTAC data also reflects that spending on accommodation increased by 6.4%, driven by the booking of higher-category establishments, while spending on food grew by 9.7%, highlighting the growing appeal of gastronomy and restaurants in the island's tourist experience.

The president of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, considers that "it is a historic record and confirms that Lanzarote is growing in value and reinforcing a more sustainable and profitable model", and he underlines the relevance of this data: "that Lanzarote reaches the highest tourist spending recorded in the Canary Islands since 2010 is no coincidence. It is proof that the island is growing in value and reinforcing a more sustainable and profitable model, where visitors seek quality, authenticity, and a more curated offering. We will continue working to ensure that this path of stability and maturity is a guarantee for Lanzarote society".

For his part, the CEO of SPEL-Turismo Lanzarote, Héctor Fernández, highlighted the structural dimension of this positive evolution. "The ISTAC data show clear progress: **Lanzarote receives a tourist with greater purchasing power,** who opts for higher-category accommodations and invests more in gastronomy and the destination experience. It is the result of a strategy that seeks to qualify the product and diversify it towards higher-value segments, maintaining coherence with our sustainability model." "The improvement in spending is linked to the qualification of the destination and to a tourist with greater purchasing power," asserts Fernández
