Teguise will host on July 22 a new edition of the White Night, with a program "full of many surprises" and that has been presented this Friday, July 1. In addition, the City Council has announced the program of the Carmen festivities, both in the municipality and in La Graciosa.

"The X White Night will be full of many surprises and in the coming days we will announce the details of a program full of proposals that thousands of people can enjoy thanks to this free cultural event that has as a backdrop our appreciated historical heritage site", said the Councilor for Festivities, Nori Machín.

The City Council explains that on Friday, July 22, from the afternoon until dawn, "a unique atmosphere will be experienced again that was born under the protection of the success obtained since the beginning of the 21st century in different European cities", with the aim of "bringing contemporary artistic creation closer to citizens under concepts of gratuity, avant-garde and sustainability, in addition to promoting commerce, restoration and local artists."

This first of July marks exactly 11 years since the Teguise City Council celebrated its first White Night in the Historic Site, which was coming to life and gaining followers in each new call. From the Consistory they point out that this 2022, after two years of forced break, the Villa "will once again become an open-air stage to illuminate art, culture, children's and youth dynamization, and display the gastronomic and heritage wealth that its cobbled streets harbor."

The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, welcomed this Friday to a month of July that comes "full of hope to resume a holiday that so much devotion has professed its people, both in the town of Villa and in the Eighth of the Canary Islands". "A festivity that is part of the collective domain and of which we are very proud," he added, thanking "all the women and men who have always actively joined in the celebration of the festivities in honor of Our Lady of Carmen, and have done so again now on a very special occasion after the bad time we have suffered and that we are finally overcoming."

"The Department of Culture and Festivities will honor our patron saint the Virgen del Carmen by dedicating a religious function and procession to her on her big day at the height of the town of Villa, which will be the culmination of the program of events that are held from the beginning of the month in her name, starting on the 8th with the proclamation by Luis de León and the performance of José Manuel Ramos, reviving the Cuban singer Antonio Machín", explained the head of the area, Nori Machín, highlighting "an event of which we are very proud to be able to rescue, such as the Acatife Festival, which in its 28th edition will have the best of guests: the beloved group, the maximum exponent of the music of the Canary Islands, Los Sabandeños."

"I am very pleased to organize again our maritime procession with the image of the Patron Saint, which is an unavoidable part of our identity and idiosyncrasy, and enjoy multiple events for all ages in a privileged environment, which we have to take care of and pamper among all, because it is the greatest heritage we have for the present and the future", said the delegate councilor of La Graciosa, Alicia Páez.
