The Vice President of the Government of the Canary Islands, María del Mar Julios, stated yesterday that the insular debate opened around whether the businessmen of a province receive more money than those of the other is an "absurd debate".

Although it has been denounced from Gran Canaria that the businessmen of Tenerife receive more funds from the regional Executive, Julios assures that "in the Canary Islands there is a special treatment for any entrepreneurial idea".

The Vice President of the Government of the Canary Islands has pointed to an equitable distribution of financing between the islands and has denied that there is preferential treatment for some. "We must put the interests of citizens above" everything, she said.

She has pointed out that the different data that exist regarding this issue are interpretable and that they must be seen from all fields. Therefore, she says, the Government of the Canary Islands cannot be blamed.

Regarding a future meeting of the Government and businessmen, María del Mar Julios declares that the doors of the presidency are always open and, despite the difficulties that have arisen for the meeting, she hopes that an agreement can be reached for its realization.
