The former mayor of Haría, Juan Ramírez has been arrested by the Civil Guard on Wednesday morning, as confirmed to La Voz by official sources. The Civil Guard called Ramírez at the request of a seizure order from the Court because he had not heeded the judicial summons that required him to go to the Courts this Tuesday to testify. The former mayor appeared at the Civil Guard barracks in Teguise where he has remained detained. According to the digital newspaper Canarias Ahora, Juan Ramírez was finally released after he was questioned.

According to Canarias Ahora the judicial summons would have to do with a case related to one of the companies of the former mayor. Juan Ramírez has already been involved in other legal proceedings. He had to sit in the dock last year for the Villa Dolores case that occurred while he was mayor of Haría and from which he was acquitted. Now the former mayor and current member of Asamblea Conejera, awaits the holding of a new trial, to which he will attend as charged for having granted allegedly illegal building permits in El Charco del Palo, while he was mayor of Haría.
