The Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Industry, has awarded the company Applus Iteuve Technology the management of the Vehicle Technical Inspection (ITV) service on the island of La Graciosa for a period of two and a half years and an amount of 198,261 euros.
The Ministry led by Yaiza Castilla "thus makes possible the continuity of the campaigns carried out in the past year and guarantees that the technical vehicle inspections carried out in La Graciosa have the necessary guarantees of safety and efficiency." At the same time, it is intended to avoid discriminating against residents in La Graciosa with respect to users of the remaining islands, taking into account the additional cost that would involve the transfer of vehicles from the Graciosa residents to Lanzarote.
According to the contract, the company will carry out a total of five inspections on the island, in intervals of six months, during the period 2020-2022. The first of the campaigns will begin the first week of March, after the installation of the mobile technical inspection station, in collaboration with the local authorities, thus guaranteeing the correct development of the campaign.
Currently, the island of La Graciosa has a mobile fleet of about 145 vehicles in La Graciosa, including passenger cars, light vehicles, heavy vehicles, category L vehicles, special vehicles, electric vehicles and trailers. It is estimated that an average of 180 annual inspections will be carried out, including vehicles that have to repeat the inspection.
The service provided by this company includes the costs of travel of the human and technical team to La Graciosa and those derived from the activity of the ITV inspection on the island.
