Hay Proyecto in Tías leaves politics to continue as a citizen movement: "We were not comfortable"

The president of Hay Proyecto en Tías, Agustín Enrique García Acosta, has announced that the party has decided to abandon "unanimously and definitively" the political sphere of its horizon of action, although he affirms that it will continue its work as a citizen movement.

"In just over two years, we have realized that we were not comfortable in this context. Too many suspicions, a lot of ambiguity everywhere, lack of generosity, excess of poses and friendly photos to camouflage internal deficiencies, invented conspiracies and an instinct for survival in the armchair never seen before", he points out in a writing, in which he affirms that the decision has been made "with a bittersweet taste in the soul", but understanding that it was "inevitable".

"We had to burn some preliminary phases to end up reaching what the skin and the heart had been demanding from us for some time with eagerness and right. And despite everything, we are left with a feeling of resentment inside, I don't know", adds the president of this party, which ran in the last municipal elections, but did not obtain representation.

"We don't move well among so many sophists and bureaucratic geniuses. We don't want to be trapped in that tedious web, to be suspected of being who we say we are, we don't have the stomach to destroy positive proposals for the well-being of the community just because the alleged political rival has raised it before or better. We don't want to be tough, we want to be flexible. Flexible and generous, not weak. We want to question and be questioned with mutual freedom, to think with sense, to build and see the numerous social, neighborhood, etc. projects that we have set aside, many times, so as not to hurt sensitivities", he continues.

"In reality we never had a vocation for a political party"

García affirms that, "as a colleague very rightly says", "in reality" Hay Proyecto en Tías "never" had "a vocation for a political party".  "It was rather a means to be able to access and raise our opinions, suggestions... We have no choice, although we were clear from the beginning that we were rather a citizen movement, a platform for civic awareness", he specifies.

Thus, he announces that "that is where the future" of Hay Proyecto en Tías "will lie. We are sure that we will be happier and, best of all, we will be ourselves, once and for all. We will be located in the social sphere, we carry it in our DNA, maintaining firmness in our convictions (neither better nor worse, but we believe in them, others, I don't know?) and following the same critical line (it is not at odds with a constructive conception of things), but oriented to build bridges with other groups, administrations, etc., with the purpose of putting together community initiatives that help people", he indicates.

"We are concerned about people, the elderly, families, the care of the environment, the future of our children, etc., that is, we want to come down to earth, be more sensitive, humble" and supportive. We need to get rid of the general comfort and unhealthiness that inhabits certain socio-economic and political areas of the island",

"We leave without resentment or animosity"

"We leave without harming anyone, without saying more. We are not into pointing out/labeling other people, groups or individuals. We abandon without resentment or animosity (we believe so). We are leaving because we took the wrong path, we lost faith, being and living the experience from within. We do not recognize ourselves in those nooks and crannies, nor do we recognize many of those who are there, but that is another story. We are leaving to locate ourselves in the space that is tailored for us and from which we can acquire a new dimension", continues the president of Hay Proyecto en Tías.

"We know that suspicions and misgivings will continue (nobody said it was going to be easy). That will also be inevitable (and the inevitable cannot be stopped, you know). Some minds do not rest, even though there is nothing to fear anymore (which there never was). There are souls that find warmth in unhealthy shelters, especially for their particular interests, what in my neighborhood is called "maintaining the racket", he adds.

Finally, Agustín Enrique García conveyed his gratitude "to all the people who have been and will be behind" Hay Proyecto en Tías, which he insists is a project that "does not end", but is "reformulated". "Those who are not visible, but essential, those who encourage us to continue, those who tell us we will be with you always, in all the wonderful occurrences and madness that they intend to explore. Thank you, plan b is activated", he concludes".
